Time for New

It seems that I’ve fallen into a little pattern (unknowingly). I’ve been buying a new camera every 3 years or so. I first started with my Samsung handycam back in the day, took the big step up to the 3CCD world with my Sony VX2100 junior year of high school, got my first HD camera with my Panasonic HVX200 mid-sophmore year of college, and now, keeping on schedule, I make my next purchase after just graduating college with the Canon 5D Mark II. Looking back on it, each new camera as been so radically different than the last, and such an upgrade in so many ways. I don’t think this one will disappoint, shooting full-frame HD video with interchangeable 35mm lenses, all in the palm of my hand. Did I mention it’s a 21mpixel still camera as well. Can’t really go wrong with this, but as technology has it, this will be soon outdated. But it’ll be my go to camera for, say, the next 3 years.

Some videos that inspired me to get this camera can be seen here, here, and also here (though the last one may not be for the right reasons). I also enjoyed reading the informative blogs of Philip Bloom and Shane Hurlbut. I placed the ordered mid-morning today, and if B&H can live up to its speedy shipping that its delivered in the past, it should be here by Monday. If not, Tuesday. Either way you’ll know about it when it’s here!
