2009: review
Time most certainly doesn’t slow; it’s hard to believe I’m seven and a half months out of school and we are at the end of another year. If I take the time to look back, it’s evident that the past twelve months have brought me more than I could ask for. The past year hasn’t been without it’s ups and downs, but good has outweighed the bad to say the least. Highlights this year start with my senior season of college lacrosse, getting to play once again and for one last time with my brother. We ran the table and won our conference championship, a day that I believe I can single out as my best day of 2009, as my brother and I scored 5 goals collectively to lead FDU to an 8-7 win, on a blue sky day in front of friends, family, and former teammates. Graduating a few weeks later was also something worth noting, as I’ve began the transition into the next phase of life in the following months. Flying to Europe for my travel excursion with Adam and getting to see Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and the English countryside is something that I am more than grateful to have be given the opportunity to do so. Moving into a new apartment in Morristown with Adam and Brandon has been a great change for me and a lot of fun over the past month and a half.
More than anything, 2009 has proven to be a year of a lot of personal triumph. Not playing my junior year of lacrosse and then coming back my senior year and having the year I did was more than fulfilling. Being jobless over the summer and questioning everyday what I am doing with my life was more than a struggle, and yet I am sitting here on the brink of 2010 and couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead and where I’m going. I never set out to do something to prove anything to anyone; rather to prove it to myself. I have greater arguments with my mind than anyone else in my life. Life isn’t simply about defining yourself, it’s about redefining yourself each step of the way, ensuring that you’re still the person you want to be after all that life throws at you. Here’s to 2010..
