Finding Your Niche

There are few things as inspiring as finding other people with the same dreams and aspirations as you. I find that my mindset these days are a lot different from a lot of my friends and other people surrounding me. With this different approach to life, there is a big disconnection on some level. I’m not sure if comforting is the right word, because I am happy and set on my direction regardless of whether other people are headed the same way. But there is a sense of confirmation; confirmation that the things I think up do actually have potential to play out as I hope. It is a great feeling reading about or meeting others with a similar mindset as you.

For the past few days I’ve been reading past articles from Nick Onken, who is an extremely talented photographer gooder than good looking portfolio. What is even better than his amazing photographs was what he writes in his blog.  He has posts talking about the business of a creative profession and how each side needs to be given the same amount of energy and attention, posts detailing how the new social aspect of today’s world is changing the game, posts explaining how you must surround yourself with like minded people to let yourself excel in the direction you want to be headed, and posts talking about what must be sacrificed to get to where you want to be, owning your ultimate lifestyle design.

I read these articles and can’t stop shaking my head up and down, agreeing in what he is saying and telling myself this is where I want to be going. The only way to be where you want to be is through yourself and your actions, and there is no better way to help yourself get there than through motivation. Discovering like minded people is a great way to do that.
