working on the last and final lacrosse highlight video all this week. decided to change plans and do a last minute intro. involved a green screen which i couldnt light properly with drop-lights around the garage and stick tricks that made my back sore in the morning. i’ll post it up next week.
i’m over it
it snowed the other day. but then it rained the next. now there’s just ice on the ground. whatever. union square edit is up.

went to the rail comp in NYC last night. it was prettty much the same as last year. a little better setup. i planned my angle a little further in advance. but there were still 50 people there shooting this thing, so not really like your going to get to unique of an angle or edit.
rode the train into the city. lucky for me it was student-ride-free week. that was nice that lined up with the date of the competition.
thought for a half a second about trying to get somewhere in through this crowd to get an angle.
but that’s about as long as that idea lasted…
went to the 4th floor of barnes and noble across the street.. attempted to tripod it and got told to move within 10 min. yet there was a guy 5 feet to my left who was allowed to stay. i found the manager and asked a couple questions and it was obvious that one of the big sponsors was paying them to only let 1 filmer up there. lame.
i then went down a floor to the starbucks section and filmed from that window. no one bothered me the whole night.
overall pretty good night. the best part was probably not knowing the train schedule home and running into the station as my train read ‘all aboard’ on the tv. i thought it’d still be worth a shot to get to. jumped on and it pulled away a minute later. it wouldn’t have been cool to sit there for another hour for the next one.

attempted to go snowboarding yesterday at creek. it was the worst ever. the hill was literally a sheet of ice. while loading the chair passerbyers claimed we’d be better off using ice skates. upon arriving at the top of the hill i realized their suggestions were in fact quite accurate. I can’t believe the place was even open! ridiculous i tell ya..
in a bit more positive news i’ve been doing more tests with the new lens.. still very happy with the results. going to try and order another lens or 2 from ebay of something. hopefully it snows again or it might as well just get warm.
new things
so to my surprise, my lens adapter arrived early yesterday morning. i didn’t think it was going to get here for quite some time. a good portion of yesterday was spent playing with this new device. can’t wait to do some serious stuff with it! i also moved back into school today.. its no australia but it’ll be alright. looking to get some things accomplished this semester.

filmed this comp tonight for about 5 hours.. there were about 200+ kids at this pretty nuts. the video is going up on the creek site so I’ll have it done by tuesday. p.s. video links are coming, along with a bunch of other things. this site is just sorta temporary for awhile
35mm adapter.. ordered cha ching $$
So after about a month of debating whether or not I should buy this lens adapter (which I knew I was going to purchase eventually anyway) I finally went through with it today. Its a little box that will allow me to use real lenses.. The results totally transform my HVX from a cool new HD cam to footage that people will question if its film or not. A year or two ago I would have been so pumped for something like this.. not any different now really.
‘one hit wonder’ comp
went to creek tonight to try and film this comp. This setup was almost really cool- but it was bitter cold and the light was just plain horrible. I gotta throw a bunch of filters on the footage and maybe I can up something out.. Otherwise not looking so good!
